I love the Engelberger Nativity set from Nova Natural. It was an early gift from Santa (aka Grandma and Grandpa). What I love most about it is that it is child-like in form, yet truly beatiful. The kids love it, especially Sweet Pea who carries baby Jesus around everywhere. We look forward to adding more figures in the coming years. I plan on being super anal about it so it can become something of a family heirloom....and yet relaxed enough to let the kids play. A fine line to balance!

Lovely Nativity

A Castle for the Prince
The Prince (aka Wild Man) will be getting the awesome Land of Nod Noddingham Castle and Schleich figures for Christmas from Santa (aka Grandma and Grandpa, in this case). I can't wait to open it and start playing....I mean watch the Prince play. Beautifl toy.
A Touch of Germany
I was BLOWN AWAY by Trader Joe's Gingerbread House Kit. It seems to me that they found this kit in Germany and just made the packaging cooler. It is truly adorable and includes everything you need....even four sweet little candy figures to stand in front. It was so easy and it really looks adorable in spite of the fact that my 4 year old and 20 month old helped a lot. A FANTASTIC BUY at $7.99.

Advent Calender Awesomeness
Garnet Hill is offering these beautiful and totally charming Christmas Advent Pixies from Danish Company, Maileg. Usually you'd have to order them through some overseas website and spend loads on shipping to the US. But not now! Just have a look at Garnet Hill. Halloween in the USA
Nothing gets me in the Halloween spirit like visiting Icelanders......What? No really. My husband's family is visiting from Denmark (but they are Icelanders) and they love Halloween! We've already hit one Halloween store where they loaded up on cheapo Halloween decoration. We also shopped at Pottery Barn Kids where they picked up these lovely treat bags, among other things. Pottery Barn Kids offers really nice costumes, Halloween books, and Halloween accessories. With only 3 weeks left until Halloween, it's time for a trip to your local Halloween-y store.

Happy 4th of July America!
Hello and Happy 4th of July from Chicky Mickey. I feel truly blessed to live in this great nation. And today we celebrate what many describe as a miracle....the authoring of the Declaration of Independence....such a long shot and such a success! Hooray! I'm celebrating with an all-American post. Converse (what could be more American in terms of footwear?) actually allows you to design your own shoes. There are 6 customizable styles for kids, including the classic Chuck Taylor's above. Pretty awesome!

Sweet and Somehow Christmassy
